"When I was a lot younger I worked in a bowling center and every year we hosted the Special Olympics bowling event, I was busy working when this boy came up to me so excited telling me his name (it was Mikey) and proudly showing me his 2 medals with such pure joy and innocently bragging about what a great job he did. It brought a tear to my eyes, but then this kid did something I will never forget. He asked what I was doing and I said I’m just working, he looked at me put his hand on mine and proceeded to take off 1 of his medals and place it around my neck and said proudly YOU DID A GOOD JOB TOO! I was crying so bad you know that ugly cry where you can’t compose yourself. From that day on I became a volunteer with the Special Olympics. So much fun and excitement."
